Trash of the Count’s Family Part 2 Chapter 408: Night and Light (4)

* * *

– I’ll take care of the believers guarding the Record Room. The librarians inside as well.

The Heavenly Demon took the lead while Cale and Alberu followed behind him.

Cale, who was wearing a middle-grade priest robe, checked the time.

Tap. Tap.

Cale raised his head after hearing some quiet noises and then thought to himself.

‘As expected.

The Heavenly Demon is amazing.’

He truly seemed like the greatest expert in the Martial Arts world.

The two knights guarding the Record Room building…

Although they looked quite skilled and they had their guards up, the Heavenly Demon instantly approached them.

Before the enemies could even notice that he was there…

Before they could react in any way…

Tap. Tap.

He easily pushed the meridians of the two knights.

“……!”

“!!”

The two of them stiffened as they were standing.

The two knights could only stand there while blinking their eyes.

– It will be noticed if anybody gets close, but we shouldn’t get caught before that.

The Heavenly Demon then rummaged through one of the knights’ pockets to pull something out before heading into the Record Room first.

‘It really is comfortable.’

With the Heavenly Demon acting as the Action Leader, Cale leisurely but stealthily and confidently entered the Record Room Building.

‘It’s the only one.’

This building was the only one without a window toward the Night of the Beginning.

‘There are no windows at all.’

The inside of the Record Room was cold.

They must have done something with magic to maintain the best environment for books.

Step. Step.

Cale confidently walked through the Record Room. And Alberu.

It could not be helped.

“There are so many magic alarms.”

Alberu looked at a magic circle and explained.

Beep.

The Heavenly Demon, who was at the front of the group, easily went through those magic circles with the access card in his hand.

“There are a lot of hidden experts too.”

Many of the guards inside the Record Room were stealthily hiding, but…

Shhhhhhhhh.

The moment the Heavenly Demon lightly moved…

By the time Cale would think that his movements were like the wind…

Tap.

The Heavenly Demon’s hand gently moved.

The people hiding on the ceiling started falling to the ground.

“!”

One of them tried to say something, but…

Shh.

The Heavenly Demon easily grabbed him, and before he could hit the ground…

Tap.

He struck the person one more time to knock him out.

He then silently placed the man on the ground.

His skills at knocking people unconscious was even better than Choi Han’s.

The Heavenly Demon should have complete knowledge about meridians, and how that he was much stronger than he had been in the past…

Now that he seemed to have the skills to fight against wanderers…

How could the people guarding this Record Room stop such a person?

Tap.

He knocked another person unconscious.

The Record Room was not large.

It was only one story and it wasn’t very wide either.

There were bookshelves full of records on either side of the narrow hallway.

Tap.

This hallway was also very windy like a maze.

The Record Room looked like a rectangle on the outside, but the inside was like a maze.

This was the reason the people hiding did not notice Cale’s arrival.

‘No.’

They did know.

But they had walked in so confidently that all these guards mistook them as priests with tasks to complete.

But if they notice something is weird and try to react…

Tap.

The Heavenly Demon knocked them unconscious.

Very easily.

“That’s all.”

The Heavenly Demon led Cale to the end of the hallway using the access card and knocking people unconscious.

Cale turned around.

‘Wow.’

He couldn’t see everything because the hallway was like a maze, but…

“20 people.”

Alberu was right about approximately twenty people being knocked unconscious.

“Oh-”

Cale gasped in admiration and the Heavenly Demon gently chuckled. His shoulders oddly seemed to go up as well.

“I guess there really is something important here.”

The Heavenly Demon quickly changed the topic.

“Something this size would usually only need about three hidden guards. But twenty…”

At the end of the blocked hallway… The Heavenly Demon looked at the last bookshelf without any books on it.

“It’s your turn next.”

“Yes.”

Cale stepped forward.

The Record Room.

There was a hidden spot in here.

All these people were hiding here to protect the entrance to that hidden place.

“I don’t sense anything.”

As the Heavenly Demon said that…

Alberu asked Cale.

“Is it the bookshelf?”

This last bookshelf that didn’t have anything on it…

“Yes, your highness. It is right here.”

Cale pulled a book out of the bookshelf next to it.

It was an extremely average looking book.

It wasn’t that old but it also did not look new.

‘Creak.’

Following Hin Pao’s memories, recalling the noise he heard in the memory…

Cale placed the book on the third row of the empty book shelf toward the left.

Creak.

He heard the same sound he heard in Hin Pao’s memories.

Click.

There was a small noise and the bookshelf started to move.

Stairs heading down appeared.

The Record Room had an above ground floor and a single underground floor. That was its makeup.

“I’ll be waiting here.”

The Heavenly Demon said that he would stay.

“Shall we go?”

Cale and Alberu headed down.

There weren’t many steps.

They quickly arrived at the basement.

‘It is just as it was in the memory.’

As soon as Cale entered the hidden area…

< You have arrived at a hidden location. >

The quest sent a notification.

Ooooooooong-

He then heard a weird noise.

‘Hmm?’

Cale turned his head and saw Alberu standing there with an awkward look on his face.

“Wow.”

Cale gasped in amazement.

“Haaaaa.”

Alberu sighed.

“What is going on all of a sudden?”

A bright light burst out of the Sun Sword and covered Alberu.

The blonde-haired blue eyed handsome man glowing with a golden light…

“You look like a hero, your highness!”

Smile. Alberu closed his eyes as Cale gave him a thumbs up.

Cale stopped making fun of Alberu and started to move as they didn’t have much time.

“The Sun Sword seems to be reacting because there are a lot of things here related to the God of Chaos.”

Cale said that and then moved according to Hin Pao’s memories.

The basement of the Record Room was different from the one above ground.

Five altars.

These five altars each held a record book.

“Is that the Authority of the God of Chaos?”

Cale nodded his head at Alberu’s comment.

“I knew you would notice it, your highness.”

Cale stopped at a spot.

It was a record book written in some odd text.

< You found some records related to ‘Fear.’ >

The Fear of Chaos.

This was the record book necessary to awaken that skill.

Cale picked it up.

“Mm!”

He then flinched.

“What is it?”

Alberu walked up to Cale.

However, Cale was focused on the record book.

– It is the power of Chaos.

As the cheapskate mentioned, the moment he picked up the record book…

Ziiiing.

Cale felt an odd power climbing into his body through his fingertips.

Ding!

New text appeared on the quest window.

< Resistance detected. >

But it was soon followed by new text.

< Resistance is removed as you possess the authority (one). >

Authority.

“Must be the power of the Saint.”

The Fear of Chaos.

Although it was not awakened, Cale still had this power.

He realized that was the reason he could pick up this ‘Fear’ record book.

Cale picked it up.

The record book looked normal once it was completely out of the altar, but he felt an odd aura around it.

IT was similar to when the God of Chaos made Cale feel fear.

He faintly felt that same aura coming from this record book, but…

‘It’ll be ripped apart today.’

This record book was scheduled to be destroyed today.

Cale nonchalantly placed the record book in his pocket.

“Ugh!”

He suddenly heard a groan.

He then became flustered.

“… What is it, your highness?”

Alberu Crossman.

He was curled over while holding his scabbard.

“Don’t, worry about it-”

The scabbard was shaking and Alberu was holding onto it.

Cale thought about the record book in his pocket and then looked at the crouching Alberu before coming to a conclusion.

“It must be similar to what the Saint-nim went through.”

Saint Jack.

As the Saint of the Church of the Sun God, he would shake in front of powers like dead mana because of a strong desire to purify it.

Alberu was probably experiencing something similar.

“The Sun Sword probably wants to destroy all traces of the God of Chaos in this place.”

Alberu didn’t answer and just sat down on the ground with the scabbard in his embrace.

He looked extremely unsightly, but…

“Please give it your best, your highness.”

Cale was truly cheering Alberu on.

“This is driving me nuts.”

He ignored Alberu and headed toward a different altar.

< You found some records related to ‘purification.’ >

To be more specific, the ‘Purification of Chaos.’

Hin Pao’s memories confirmed that this was ‘purification.’

This was the record book that would save Choi Jung Gun from the pollution of chaos.

Ziiiing.

< Resistance detected. >

< Resistance is removed as you possess the authority (one). >

Cale placed the record book with the purification ritual into his pocket.

‘I should be able to save Choi Jung Gun once I read this.’

He now had both of the books he came to get.

“Did you get them all?”

Alberu was struggling to suppress the scabbard as he asked.

“Mm.”

But Cale did not answer and just looked around.

This empty area…

It only contained the five altars.

Step.

Cale started to walk.

‘Pleasure.’

< You found some records related to ‘pleasure.’ >

Step.

< You found some records related to ‘pollution.’ >

And the final altar…

< You found some records related to ‘@($*%.’ >

“Hmm?”

Cale’s eyes clouded over.

The last one.

The record book at the altar farthest away from him had text that the game system could not decipher.

“Hoooo.”

Cale’s eyes started sparkling.

“Shit.”

Cale didn’t hear Alberu’s gasp.

“Yeah. If I’m going to do it…”

Cale extended his hand toward the other three record books as well.

Ziiiing.

He gained pollution.

Ziiiing.

He also gained pleasure.

‘It’s not like I can get the power in these record books by taking it.’

The Saint or the believers of the Church of the God of Chaos should be able to use these powers even without the record books, but…

‘But who knows?’

He might as well loot everything he could.

He extended his hand toward the record book that could not be deciphered.

Ziiiing!

The shock felt stronger than the others, but…

‘Mm.’

The book still came into Cale’s hand without much resistance.

Cale put away all of the record books and then turned toward Alberu.

“Shall we go?”

“Yes.”

Alberu was now standing calmly with the scabbard by his side.

The Sun Sword seemed to have calmed down.

“It took much longer than expected.”

Alberu was right as it had been around 40 minutes already.

There was only 20 minutes left until the agreed upon time.

“Nobody should be coming here in the next 20 minutes since it is right before the ritual.”

Using Hin Pao’s memories as the foundation, Cale had determined that nobody would be coming to the Record Room.

‘But the Saint might come once the ritual happens and the Night of pleasure starts.’

But it wouldn’t matter if they learned about the condition of the knights and the hidden guards at that point.

‘Plus, would they have the time to do that?’

The Saint will end up quite frantic today.

Their Holy Land would be destroyed.

“Mm.”

Cale thought about what he had to do before leaving the Record Room.

‘Divine item. And the Saint.’

The priority was a divine item.

If he ended up not being able to see the Saint in advance, then so be it.

He will see the Saint once the ritual starts.

“But I thought Hin Pao’s memories didn’t show the location of a divine item?”

Cale smiled oddly at Alberu’s question.

“Ah, that.”

– Sniff sniff.

Since earlier…

“There is always a way, your highness.”

– Sniff sniff.

Someone had been sniffing since earlier.

“Please follow me.”

– Sniff sniff.

The Sound of the Wind.

The thief had been sniffing around since earlier.

She was someone who always found the nearby divine items.

– It’s not far away.

The Sound of the Wind excitedly proclaimed.

– It’s over there.

Cale moved toward where the Sound of the Wind directed him.
