Trash of the Count’s Family Part 2 Chapter 405: Night and Light (1)

The Holy Land of the God of Chaos, the Night of the Beginning.

Cale was currently on his way there.

– You’ll soon gain everything you need.

Cale slightly nodded his head at the Scary Giant Cobblestone’s comment.

Ssssss-

Cale breezed through the Jungle, riding the wind swirling around his ankles.

Sub quest 1. [Steal the power of chaos]

[Skill: Fear of Chaos (Deactivated)]

[*You must go to the Holy Land of the God of Chaos to remove the deactivated status. – See more-]

First, he would be able to use the Fear of Chaos, the power of the Saint, once he arrives at the Holy Land.

Then he would naturally be able to resolve one other thing.

‘Choi Jung Gun.’

Second, he would be able to save Choi Jung Gun, who is currently suffering from the pollution of chaos.

The Pollution of chaos was known as one of the three worst disasters in the Demon World.

A way to purify that…

The Fire of Destruction and the Sky Eating Water had commented.

The fire was familiar with purification while the water now knew chaos.

The two had requested something.

– One bastard!

– One time!

They wanted to fight against one bastard who had the power of the God of Chaos.

They just needed one chance to try to purify the pollution of chaos.

There was only one reason for that.

‘Only then will we know about the power of the God of Chaos.’

But there was no longer a need for Cale to fight against the Saint to learn about the power of the God of Chaos.

‘Skill.’

The power that the Saint of the God of Chaos holds, the ‘Fear of Chaos.’

Cale was able to get this as a skill through the game.

‘Once I get it-’

He just needed to perform the purification ritual for the Pollution of chaos from the slate board that team leader had found.

Of course, he originally needed to figure out the proper purification ritual from the Saint, but…

“Cale. You plan on going to the record room first when you go to the Holy Land?”

Ssssss-

Eruhaben asked while gently dodging leaves.

“Yes, Eruhaben-nim.”

“Does that place have information on the purification ritual?”

“Yes, Eruhaben-nim. I saw it.”

Tap.

Alberu, who was easily jumping through the trees instead of moving on the ground like Cale and Eruhaben, landed next to Cale and asked.

“You saw it? Didn’t the memory only give you information related to the quest?”

“It did.”

Cale had seen portions of memories while fighting against believers of the God of Chaos, which served as the foundation to get this far.

“There are two things I have to do at the Holy Land in order to gain a skill.”

“Yeah. I heard about that.”

Cale looked at the sub quest window as he ran.

[Go into the hidden area of the Record Room to gain the ‘Record of the Power of Chaos.’]

[Go to the Flipped Night and rip up the records you have gained.]

“While looking at Sir Hin Pao’s memories of the Record Room, I confirmed that they have the records of the Purification Ritual inside there.”

“Ah.”

Rosalyn lightly gasped as if her question was answered.

‘It’s something I just happened to learn.’

Sir Hin Pao showed him the hidden location within the record room.

Cale’s mind just happened to record that there is a document regarding the purification ritual in that memory.

“I left behind traces.”

Gashan reported at that moment.

“The wanderers should be able to see and track what we left behind.”

The Heavenly Demon questioned Cale’s comment.

“Didn’t you say that the wanderers have some idea regarding the location of the Holy Land? Is there a need to leave behind so many traces?”

“Yeah. Forget finding the entrance, the wanderers probably can’t even enter the Holy Land.”

The wanderers, Cho and Ryun. Based on Cho’s personality, it was highly likely that he would destroy the area around the entrance of the Holy Land first since he didn’t know the exact location. No, Cale was certain about it.

But Cale was firm about something.

“That place can only be entered through the entrance.”

This was the reason Cale had Gashan leave traces behind starting from the spot where they attacked Cho and Ryun.

‘Traces that look like they were accidentally left behind while trying to erase them.’

Cale had requested Gashan to leave behind traces like that and the experienced Tiger did it very well.

Ryun was the cautious type, but she would follow the traces despite being suspicious if they are unable to find the entrance.

“Cale is right about this.”

Alberu looked forward.

They had been running through the Jungle for a long time.

“If the Holy Land really is where Cale says it is, that place will be hard to find even if you know about it.”

Eruhaben asked a question.

“Didn’t you say it was a Gorge?”

“Yes, Eruhaben-nim. But you’ll need to see it to understand.”

Alberu cast a spell to have wind surround his body again.

“Shall we keep going?”

The field known as the Devil’s Boundary was extremely large.

It was the size of two or three kingdoms.

Tap.

Alberu gently kicked off the ground.

Alberu was on top of a branch again.

He looked quite similar to the Dark Elves that jumped across trees.

“Ten more minutes.”

The Jungle was quite large as it covered a fourth of the entire field.

Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-

Cale followed behind Alberu and the rest of them followed without saying anything else.

Shaaaaaaaaaaa-

The wind was getting stronger.

Cale could slowly start to see the end of the Jungle.

Large trees and tall grass… His view that was covered by all sorts of vines…

He could feel the wind through all of them.

And once he moved following that wind and arrived at the end…

Shaaaaaaaaaaa-

They were out of the Jungle.

“Oh dear.”

Eruhaben gasped.

“I was thinking of something like the Gorge of Death, but this is incomparable.”

Shaaaaaaaaaaa-

A strong gust of wind blew by.

There was a cliff at the end of the Jungle.

Cale walked over to the edge.

He looked down.

He could not see the bottom.

He raised his head.

He looked toward the other side.

“It’s far.”

The other side seemed to be a couple kilometers away.

But they had to cross this large distance to arrive there.

Cale looked to the right.

“Amazing.”

Eruhaben gasped.

‘A cross.’

The gorge was making the shape of a cross as it split the Devil’s Boundary into four even pieces.

“The Cliff of Death. That is the name of this place.”

Rosalyn explained for the others.

“It is a similar name to the Gorge of Death, but this is a more vicious place.”

They could not see the bottom.

“No living creatures that fall off this place return alive. The people who go to find them also do not return alive either.”

The stories about this place…

“A cliff where you cannot see the end. That is where the world after death resides.”

This was the reason the people of New World, as well as the residents of the Devil’s Boundary, avoided this place.

“The reason being unable to use movement magic in the Devil’s Boundary is quite a burden and the reason there are four entrances is because it is split into four because of this gorge.”

Rosalyn’s gaze moved through the center of the cross-shaped gorge.

She looked toward the spot where the deep vertical and the deep horizontal cliffs met together.

It wasn’t far away.

Cale’s group had come this way on purpose.

“Thankfully, there is a bridge there that makes the burden a bit less.”

It was an odd bridge.

There were four large trees on all four sides that had roots that grew out to connect the sides that were kilometers apart.

“Apparently some users come here just to see this.”

New World.

There were hard to find spots that seemed very fantasy-like compared to reality, including this bridge, which was quite magical and beautiful to look at.

“They call this bridge the ‘Root of Beginning.’”

Rosalyn then looked at Cale.

It was the same for the others.

She continued to look at Cale as she continued.

“The reason this bridge is special is because just twice a month, on the night of the full moon and the night of the new moon… All four trees pull back their roots. The bridge disappears during those times.”

The Heavenly Demon opened his mouth.

“The Root of Beginning? Isn’t the name of the Holy Land the Night of the Beginning?”

His gaze turned toward Cale.

“I don’t know the details either, but… I can’t help but think that the Church of the God of Chaos built this bridge.”

Cale shrugged his shoulders and pointed at the cliff.

“The Holy Land of Chaos, the Night of the Beginning, is down there.”

The gorge underneath the cliff.

The size of this place was larger than most large cities.

Alberu stood next to Cale and looked down.

“There should be some users who fell off this cliff before.”

There were users who always did the things they were told not to do.

“When they do, it pops up that this is a ‘forbidden region’ before they die.”

Users could do that because they could revive and reenter the game even if they died.

However, what they saw as they fell was a grey fog.”

“They must be camouflaging it with the power of the God of Chaos.”

Eruhaben stood next to him and commented.

“Cale.”

He continued to ask.

“So how do we go in?”

Cale knew how Sir Hin Pao had entered the Holy Land.

“Over here.”

He accurately pointed at a spot.

It was the cliff.

“Do you see that grass over there, Eruhaben-nim?”

Trees grew even in cliffs.

Among them, a small grass with a red flower…

“If you follow that spot and go down a bit more, there is a cave covered by fog and vines.

Please follow me.”

Cale said that and started heading down with the wind surrounding his ankles.

Eruhaben, Rosalyn, and Alberu used magic.

The Heavenly Demon used his martial arts.

Gashan just used his amazing physical abilities.

They easily moved down the cliff as if they were going for a walk before they all stopped.

“It’s over here.”

Shh.

He moved a long vine to see a cave big enough for two adults to walk side by side.

“We just have to head down from here.”

There were stairs inside the cave.

“Gashan, did you mark it?”

“Yes, Cale-nim.”

Cale confirmed that Gashan left traces of their movement all the way here before starting to walk.

Tap. Tap.

The only sound they could hear was their footsteps.

There were no guards here.

It was a path only Guides could go through anyway.

“The believers should have their own path.’

But there should be a lot of guards on that path.

This path was actually better for Cale.

“But what is about to happen at the Night of the Beginning?”

The Heavenly Demon asked.

Cale just kept walking while looking down.

“Kim Hae-il, you would usually infiltrate stealthily, steal what you need, and run away, no? You do enjoy destroying things as it happens, but… You’re not the type who likes to cause large fights.”

The wanderer, So Hee.

That incident alone was enough to get the wanderers and the Church of the God of Chaos to fight each other.

But by attacking Cho, Cale was making a fight start in the Holy Land.

“You normally would not want a lot of people getting hurt.”

Even if those people were the believers of the Church of the God of Chaos…

The Cale that the Heavenly Demon knew wouldn’t want that.

“The Night of the Beginning is a kind of graveyard.”

The Heavenly Demon listened carefully once Cale started to talk.

Tap. Tap.

Cale continued to speak through the sounds of six people heading down.

“Guides like Sir Hin Pao lead people here from the outside.”

“Abduction, deception, charm… They use any and all methods to lead people to this Holy Land.”

“Then they gather all these people in one place where the Saint uses the power of chaos to make them all fight.”

The Night of the Beginning.

That place was like a graveyard, an execution stage, or a battlefield.

“Those people get swept up in chaos and kill and kill some more.”

“Once everybody dies and even the last person falls to his death from all his injuries…”

Tap, tap.

“They offer all those corpses as sacrifices to the God of Chaos.”

“And all of that fighting and death is the chaos of the beginning itself. They talk about how it is a return to the primal days without law or order where only the strong survive-”

“The believers of the God of Chaos all watch and then pray in gratitude.”

“Gratitude?”

“For allowing them to feel chaos.”

“And the night of that ritual is called the night of pleasure.”

“Once the sacrifice ritual finishes, all of the believers who live there dance around and eat delicious food until the sun comes up. They partake in these primal pleasures.”

“Haaaa.”

Rosalyn let out a sigh.

“But if you think about it… I think that the people the Guides bring over are not New World NPCs.”

“Outside. They were like living beings of other dimensions. All of their clothes and appearances were different and diverse.”

“Mm.”

Eruhaben groaned and clenched his eyes shut.

Tap.

Cale stopped walking down for a moment.

“A forest will appear if we go down a little more. It is the bottom of the gorge.”

They soon left the cave.

A forest appeared.

The forest that existed under a sky covered with grey fog was bizarre and gloomy.

“…….”

“…….”

The group all stood quietly without moving.

They recalled what Cale had said before they left the cave.

‘There is a wall with a gate outside the forest.’

The Night of the Beginning had four total gates.

‘We will avoid the guards and the patrol squad as we get past the wall. It should be possible with our abilities.’

The wall was not high.

There also did not seem to be any magical devices or spells on it either.

They probably trusted the power of the God of Chaos above the gorge and didn’t pay much attention to these walls.

They should be able to go without leaving any traces if they focused on remaining invisible.

‘Normally, the patrol and guards were pretty lax.’

Cale had recorded all of the discussions and moments he saw in Hin Pao’s memory of going to the Holy Land.

‘According to Hin Pao’s memories, right before the night of pleasure… It was pretty quiet other than when the Guides brought sacrifices over.’

And now…

“…….”

“…….”

Nobody could easily open their mouths.

Outside the wall…

There were quite a lot of people there.

– Cale.

Eruhaben spoke into his mind.

– They seem to be the Guides and the sacrifices.

There were two who looked normal while the others looked as if they were captured. Their hands were tied and they had chains on them.

“…….”

Cale clenched his eyes shut.

The record of Hin Pao’s memory flashed.

The night of pleasure.

The image of Hin Pao enjoying that terrible night before he walked to the hidden area of the record room.

‘Yeah.

I missed it.’

Cale opened his eyes.

Grey sky.

The night of pleasure had a different sky.

‘New moon.’

That day was the day of the new moon.

He recalled what Rosalyn had said.

‘The reason this bridge is special is because just twice a month, on the night of the full moon and the night of the new moon… All four trees pull back their roots. The bridge disappears during those times.’

And today…

‘Today is the new moon.’
