It looked serious.
“Your Majesty!”
“What is this? Why did his Royal Highness-!”
Queen Tamahi shouted again to the royal family and her guards.
“Step back! Do not come here!”
She clearly heard what Alberu had said.
‘He’s about to explode.’
Sir Hin Pao’s condition truly was serious.
The grey spear in his hand disappeared.
Goooooooou— guuuoooooooo—
Instead, a grey aura wrapped around his body while making an eerie sound, resembling the grey smoke of a volcano right as it is about to explode.
And this grey aura that was boiling like magma…
Sir Hin Pao’s face was faintly visible through it.
“Ahhhhh—!”
He was in pain.
“Ha-”
Queen Tamahi felt numerous emotions.
Prince Consort Hin Pao. There was no love or affection in her relationship with him.
She did not even hold his hand if they were not in public.
Nonetheless-
“Ahhhhhhhh—!”
She must have at least gotten used to having him with her.
She had thought that she needed to kill him some day because he was the enemy, but… The time spent seeing his face must have had some effect as Tamahi couldn’t help but feel bitter as she watched him in pain.
She was at least relieved that she did not feel sorrow.
In fact, the inside of Tamahi’s mind was quite rational right now.
“Everybody evacuate the island right now!”
She used her internal ki to raise her voice.
“Prepare to cast a barrier outside the lake!”
Her voice reached the Palace Guards waiting outside the lake.
“Cha Run!”
“Yes, your Majesty!”
Cha Run quickly started leading the royal family members.
“Your Majesty, you must evacuate now!”
This serious-looking grey aura…
Cha Run could tell that Tamahi would be no match for it and was telling her to escape, but…
“I will be the last one.”
She said that and shook her head no.
Cha Run had no choice but to evacuate the rest of the royal family.
“Ahhhhh-!”
Hin Pao continued to scream in anger as that happened.
‘It is not that his body is in pain.’
There was a reason Queen Tamahi was feeling sympathy for him.
‘His mind is breaking.’
Hin Pao.
He seemed to not be feeling physical pain but despair in his mind.
‘As for the other side-’
She looked toward Cale and Alberu who were fighting against Hin Pao.
“Ugh-”
Dark red blood poured out of Cale’s mouth again.
“Do you want me to pat your back?”
Cale glared at Alberu and Alberu seriously answered.
“I’m not messing around.”
He supported Cale and helped him stand.
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu—!
The eerie noise surrounding Hin Pao was starting to get louder.
Alberu could see a faint silhouette through the grey aura surrounding Hin Pao’s body.
‘Eyes.’
Choi Han said that eyes appeared when they faced the God of Chaos.
Hin Pao would die when those eyes become fully visible.
‘Based on the speed, he will probably explode in less than a few minutes.’
They needed to hurry.
He talked to Cale.
“I can use magic here.”
He could use magic on this island.
That meant-
“I’ll try to stop it. You don’t overdo it and run away. Run as far as you can.”
It meant that there was something Alberu could do.
He said that to Cale and looked toward Queen Tamahi.
He planned on leaving Cale with her.
“Let’s decrease the damage as much as possible.”
It was impossible to completely stop Hin Pao.
However, he should be able to lessen the impact to a degree to allow people to escape.
Squish, squish-
He could hear people running through the lake to escape.
“Aahh–, oh god-!
It was at that moment.
Alberu flinched.
Guuuuuuuuu—
At the center of the grey aura making the eerie noises…
Only Hin Pao’s face appeared.
He was crying grey tears as he shouted.
“Lord–, why have you forsaken me—!”
He was not afraid of death.
It was just-
“Was my faith lacking?”
He felt that it was unfair.
“Why?! Why—!”
His gaze turned toward Cale.
Cale was barely standing there while bleeding.
This guy definitely used an aura that had chaos within it.
It was an intense aura that instantly made Hin Pao feel suffocated.
That wasn’t the Saint’s power.
But this guy could also use the power the Saint used in the early stages.
All these things could only mean one thing.
“Why, why have you bestowed a new chaos to someone like this……?!”
The person in front of him…
The God of Chaos had given this bastard not just the Saint’s power. His god had created a new power to give this bastard as well.
It was a power that someone like him, who had a decently important position and spent his whole life for chaos, could not dare to desire!
Such a power!
Was given to a bastard like this he had never seen before.
“Why?! For what reason?!”
He could not believe it.
The voice flowing out of his mouth had a deeper despair, fear, and sorrow than fear that his life was about to end.
I-
Was I disowned by my god?
He could not say those words out loud.
That was why he could only say these words that described his grudge as he was swept away by chaos.
“Why-”
At that moment…
“I’m sure it was not enough.”
The grey-tear crying Hin Pao heard a nonchalant voice.
“Ahem.”
The voice that barely spoke while coughing up blood was quiet but firm.
Hin Pao looked toward the main cause of all of this, the person who gave him chaos and despair.
Cale continued to speak.
“Your faith.”
Your faith must have not been enough.
Cale said that and then smiled.
He was smiling despite being a bloody mess.
It was similar to a sneer.
‘Motherfucking bastards.’
The Night of the Beginning.
Cale had seen related images as he recorded the path to the Holy Land of Chaos.
One of the things he had seen in Hin Pao’s memories…
Holy Land.
The Night of the Beginning.
That place was a tomb.
It was a tomb without any mourning.
It was an execution ground created for chaos.
In some ways, it was similar to a battlefield.
Numerous lives were lost in this place.
The guide did not only take believers to this place.
Hin Pao had shoved many people, many lives into that chaos.
Cale looked at the guide with a stoic gaze.
Cale said the thing that would hurt most to someone who was thinking that he was abandoned by the god he believed in.
“Your faith was lacking.”
Your faith was lacking.
“Cough.”
He coughed up more blood.
He was feeling a bit better now.
It had not been painful from the beginning, but…
Guuuuuuuu—
“No! My faith was not lacking!”
With the screeching Hin Pao at the center…
Guuuuuuuuuu, guuuuu—!
The grey aura intensely rumbled.
He would explode soon.
Cale stood up straight.
Of course, he was supported by Alberu a bit.
‘Nooo, I said, nooooooooo—!”
Toward the screeching Hin Pao…
Cale continued to speak.
Your faith was lacking.
“And I gained power despite not believing.”
Hin Pao’s screeching stopped.
“…What?”
Hin Pao’s voice was shaking with fear and chaos this time.
He could not even repeat the words he had heard.
But Cale continued to say what he wanted to say.
“The God of Chaos, that crazy bastard. I really hate that motherfucker.”
“……!”
It was no longer despair or fear visible on Hin Pao’s face.
He looked like someone who heard something unbelievable for the first time and could not comprehend it.
It was truly chaos.
As the chaotic state of Hin Pao’s mind reached its peak…
Guuuuuuuuu—!
The eerie sound stopped.
The people escaping flinched and stopped for a moment after realizing the sound stopped.
Everybody turned toward the now silent Hin Pao.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
As everything was silent other than the sound of water…
People saw it.
‘An eye.’
An eye appeared in the grey smoke that completely covered Hin Pao.
This unexplainable thing that they could only recognize as an eye was definitely looking at them.
That was the thought everybody had.
They each believed that this eye was ‘accurately’ looking right at them.
And… Their bodies stiffened up.
Blink.
The eye blinked.
Although it only took an instant, people watched it move extremely slowly as if their gazes were tied down to it.
They could not move.
This aura of chaos was incomparable to the one they experienced with bishop Serisa.
People were bewitched by the eye.
But not everybody was affected.
Blink.
The eye blinked again.
As it was about to blink for a third time…
“Snap out of it!”
Someone broke the silence.
Alberu Crossman.
“Duck!”
As he shouted…
“!”
“……!”
People subconsciously moved.
They didn’t know the reason.
They just suddenly felt a warmth on their bodies.
They finally realized that their bodies had gone cold.
They felt a warmth similar to a warm breath touching the back of their hand.
They had no time to realize that this was the warmth of the sun.
Even Alberu didn’t know that.
“I said duck!”
He simply shouted once more.
Blink-
The moment the eye blinked a third time…
People were able to escape from its bewitchment.
They also realized what they had to do.
They had no time to run.
So they ducked and covered their face with their arms out of reflex.
They curled up as much as possible.
Even as all of that happened, they were able to see one final sight in a corner of their eyes.
Alberu.
The bright mana that was as clear as sunlight shooting out of his hand.
The magic barrier imprisoning the exploding Hin Pao.
And one more…
The clear silver thread coming out of Cale’s hand next to Alberu.
The shield and large silver wing appearing at the end of that thread…
Compared to the ominous chaos…
This silver light gave off a light that made you feel warm just looking at it and a refreshing scent as well.
The two lights harmoniously supported each other as they took their spots.
These two lights rising up amidst the chaos…
They made people think about a new sprout shooting up through the mud.
People couldn’t help but blankly stare at the light.
Baaaaaang–
The explosion was so loud that it covered up Hin Pao’s screeching.
People curled their bodies as much as possible.
“Mm.”
Alberu groaned.
He tried copying Raon.
He had created a multi-layered shield.
Drip.
Blood dripped out of his mouth.
‘Ha.’
‘Forget Raon, my magic can’t even reach Rosalyn’s level.’
Alberu felt like his insides were flipping every time a shield broke.
“Ugh-”
He couldn’t stop the groans from coming out.
But he still held on.
He created more shields.
And even more when they broke.
How many times did he do it?
Crack.
Alberu did not stop even as multiple highest-grade magic stones broke.
He wanted to know his limits.
And-
‘Crazy bastard!’
Cale Henituse.
This punk was standing straight and handling more of the aftershock of the explosion than Alberu despite his mouth being covered in blood.
Alberu’s shields did not break easily.
As a result, Cale’s shield outside had to handle even more of the aftershock of the explosion.
‘When did he get so strong?’
Alberu had been there when Cale first used the shield.
Compared to then…
‘This is driving me nuts.’
Cale had truly gotten stronger.
He easily seemed multiple times stronger than when they took down the White Star.
“Mm.”
However, Alberu had no time to think about it.
He didn’t have the luxury right now.
After some time passed…
It was probably not even a few minutes.
Drip.
Once the blood dripping out of Alberu’s mouth turned dark red…
“Haaaaaaaaaa-”
He let out a deep breath.
“…….”
He looked to his side.
Cale was holding his fatigued shoulder.
But Cale Henituse’s shield was still shining radiantly.
“Huuuuuu-”
Alberu let out a deep breath.
His insides were roaring as if his mana was depleted after the sudden excessive use.
‘If it was me-
I wouldn’t have been able to handle Hin Pao.
But Cale Henituse easily handled him.
He did cough up blood, but-
I guess this punk is trying to fight against the God of Chaos after all.’
Such a punk couldn’t be pushed around by someone like Hin Pao, who wasn’t a Saint or even a bishop.
Despite Alberu knowing this-
‘Then what about me?’
He couldn’t help but wonder.
“Mm.”
However, Alberu could not keep thinking as he felt dizzy as if he had motion sickness.
He just stood there looking as if nothing was wrong.
‘I’m sure I can’t even hide this from Cale Henituse-’
That would explain why he is looking at me with such a disrespectful gaze-
‘!’
Alberu could not continue to think.
‘What is going on?’
He felt an unexplainable odd sensation.
His whole body was turning warm.
He subconsciously looked toward the starting point of that feeling.
‘…The sun……-’
The light shining down toward him…
He had never thought that the sun was warm.
In fact, as a quarter Dark Elf, he spent more time avoiding the sun.
But now, fully receiving the light of the sun-
That light feeling warm-
‘How weird.’
It was truly a weird sensation.
“…….”
And his churning insides calmed down.
Boooooooom-
Despite the ground still shaking from the aftershock of the explosion… The sunlight directed at Alberu remained constant.
It made sense because the sun never changed.
‘Something-’
He felt like he could grasp something.
But Alberu could also feel that it was not time yet.
He turned away from the sun.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
He could only hear the sound of water.
Nothing, not even the grey smoke, was left where Hin Pao had been standing.
All that he could see was the radiant wing and the shield.
Alberu suddenly recalled the first time he saw this shield.
He thought to himself.
One other thing that had not changed since the first time he saw it was Cale Henituse.
“It’s worth trying.”
And his disrespectful and arrogant demeanor as well.
It sure had not changed.
“Ha, haha-”
Alberu couldn’t help but laugh.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
His relaxed laughter seeped through the top of the Silent Lake.
“…….”
“…….”
The people of the Lan Royal Family looked completely blanked out as they watched Alberu and Cale.
